WHAT ARE LIONS CLUBS?
WHAT DO LIONS CLUBS DO?

Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 202 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. Lions clubs are non-political, non-secretarian service clubs.

Lionism is not only work, it is the fellowship, fun and social life which is fostered as we assist the community and work to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Known for working to end preventable blindness, Lions participate in a vast variety of projects important to their communities. These projects range from cleaning up local parks to providing supplies to victims of natural disasters.

Beginning in 1917, the association of Lions clubs has provided millions of people with the opportunity to give something back to their communities.

Our motto is "We Serve".

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS?
HOW CAN I BECOME A LION?

Membership is by invitation and open to men and women of legal majority and good standing in the community.

As a Lions club member, you can: make a difference everyday in your community; provide support locally or reach out internationally; grow personally and professionally by participating in our programs, community service projects and events; have an impact on local and international humanitarian issues; develop relationships with both local and international community and business leaders; have access to membership discounts and services.

If you are interested in membership (and live in our district), visit our club page to contact a local Lions club. If you are not from our district click here to find a club in your area. Tell the local club you are considering membership and want to attend a meeting to learn more. Then, ask a member for a membership application.

BENEFITS OF BEING A LION
  1. You can serve those less fortunate than yourself in an organized and effective way;
  2. A Lions club offers every member the chance to learn leadership skills valuable in his or her business or professional life;
  3. You will meet and work with influential leaders in government, business and the professions;
  4. A Lion has many opportunities to learn and practice public speaking skills, not only within the club, but also by representing the club in the community;
  5. Leadership opportunities exist not only at the club level, but at the district and international levels as well;
  6. Because Lions is an international organization, with clubs in nearly 180 countries, members have the possibility of meeting and working with Lions from many countries at events like the annual international convention, area forums and even during business and leisure travel;
  7. You will have the prestige of belonging to the worlds largest community service organization, one that takes on such ambitious challenges as SightFirst, which aims to largely eliminate preventable and reversible blindness worldwide;
  8. You can enjoy friendship and fellowship with men and women who share your values and your commitment to the community.
